Russell completes fit-up for Liberty Mutual Agency

Rutland’s Liberty Mutual Agency moves to the Trolley Barn

Russell Construction Services converts former Annie’s Bookstore into Insurance Agency’s new office space

The Rutland Liberty Mutual Agency chose to move their office to the Trolley Barn because they were looking for a new location that would be more convenient for their customers, easily accessible and highly visible.  Russell Construction performed the high end fit up of the former Annie’s Bookstore space according to Liberty Mutual’s specifications.

The 1800 sf space now houses an area with 6 workstations, breakroom, vestibule and a manager’s office and conference room that are separated from the main area by top of the line glass partitions.

Pre-Construction Services

Russell Construction Services offers a full range of pre-construction services needed to prepare and inform your team prior to beginning a project. As a vision moves from an idea to a construction project, many questions must be answered to enable you to understand expectations, costs and timelines.

Pre-Construction Questions

  • Renovation, demolition or new construction?
  • Can I break up the project into phases? What makes sense?
  • How much will it cost?
  • How long will construction take?
  • How do I run my business during construction?
  • What unplanned obstacles should I plan for?
  • What kind of building permits will I need?
  • Can I use my property for my vision?
  • Does my soil “perc” and why is that important?
  • Do I need to worry about Act 250?
  • Most importantly: Where do I start?!

Our pre-construction services include reviewing the vision for your project and developing a plan to help guide you through the process. Nobody can accurately estimate the cost of new construction or a building renovation without the expertise of professionals that understand all elements of construction that are not immediately evident to the building owner at the idea stage.

Expert Advice

In addition to preliminary estimating and helping establish a working budget, our pre-construction team offers expert advice on:

  • Design decisions
  • Building materials
  • The permitting process
  • Wastewater and stormwater management
  • Traffic studies
  • Value engineering options
  • Cost analysis

  • LEED Certfication requirements and benefits
  • And more…

If relevent, land acquisition and life-cycle costs may also be evaluated.

LEED Certified Construction

LEED Certified VSECU by Russell Construction Services

LEED Certified Construction

Vermont State Employees Credit Union, Green Mountain Power’s Energy Innovation Center and Central Vermont Eyecare earn LEED Certification

Russell Construction Services recently managed construction of the Vermont State Employees Credit Union in Rutland Town, GMP’s Energy Innovation Center in Rutland and Central Vermont Eyecare. All are built to strict LEED standards, earning certification as energy efficient buildings and saving money every day on building operating costs. New construction earning Gold Certification is VSECU and the GMP Energy Innovation Center.

LEED is about Leadership in Efficiency

LEED is an acronym for “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.” A LEED certified building means construction incorporates very energy-efficient building materials and systems resulting in a reduced carbon footprint with minimal impact on the environment. Meeting the strict requirements for certification takes careful planning of the building materials selection process as well as strong knowledge of the inefficiencies of key mechanical systems to be installed as part of the infrastructure to the building. Above all, it take an appreciation for the environment and a commitment to sustainability.

Russell Construction Services is proud of the relationship we have with VSECU and GMP and we appreciate their commitment to sustainability.

Ladabouche Furniture Demolition Makes Way for New Tire Shop

Town Fair Tire Coming to Former Ladabouche Furniture Site

Russell Construction began demolition of the old Ladabouche Furniture in July to make way for a new construction project in Rutland. A new tire store will soon stand in the footprint of the former furniture showroom.

As excavators tugged away at the steel, cement block and wood structure and the last of the supports were removed, Ladabouche Furniture completely disappeared into the cellar hole below ground level.

The new facility, one of several new construction projects in Rutland, is being built by Russell. Conveniently, our headquarters are located just steps away on the adjacent Trolley Station property alongside Southside Steakhouse and the new Indoor Golf Facility.

The new Indoor Golf center is located in the recently vacated Aubuchon Hardware building. It is rapidly being transformed into a family fun center with indoor golf and other activities for families.[divider]

John Russell III expressed his approval, as he was happy to see the old furniture store building going away.

“It really had no historic value,” said Russell. “It was not much more of an eyesore since it has been vacant for so many years.”

Russell Construction Services performs demolition and builds new construction projects, along with renovations and restorations throughout Vermont and all of the Northeast.
