Russell Celebrates 75th anniversary The John A. Russell Corporation is celebrating its 75th year in business. Since 1934, when John A. Russell Sr. founded the Rutland based construction company by building a set of steps, the company has grown and prospered by holding steadfast to its mission of “doing things right”. In 1974, John A. Russell Jr. assumed ownership of the business, and he expanded the company’s services to include construction management, design/build and industrial services. John A. Russell III and his wife Heike Russell purchased the corporation in 2004 and have since grown the Russell Family of companies to include the John A. Russell Corporation, Russell Construction Services and Russell Industrial Services of New York.
Russell Construction Services continues to focus on local building projects and providing the highest level of customer service before, during and after construction. The company specializes in new construction as well as renovation and restoration work. Russell Construction Services has recently completed the Leed certified Central Vermont Eye Care Clinic, renovations for the Heritage Family Credit Union and a dorm renovation at Bennington College. Current projects include the Rutland Physicians Park, Our House Outback, Unit renovations for the Rutland Housing Authority at Sheldon Towers, a roofing project for the Rutland Town Elementary School and a siding project for the Bennington Housing Authority.
The field services division of Russell Industrial Services provides mechanical and equipment maintenance services to industrial clients from Maine to Florida and installs the specialty metal fabrications that are built in the company’s metals shop in Glens Falls, NY. In addition to industrial fabrications such as conveyors, stacks, duct work, electrical cabinets, bins and hoppers, the fab shop can also produce commercial fabrications such as ornamental fencing, railings, handrails and specialty structural steel.
The company’s many loyal employees are a key factor to its continued success. Two of its superintendents, Mr. Terry Keith and Mr. Art Usher have a tenure of over 30 years and have worked with each of the 3 generations of Russells. Several other managers and craft people have been with the company for over 20 years. The Russell family wishes to thank their employees and clients for their continued support.
